Continuing My Employment Letter

Day 7
14th April 2010
Knysna - Port Elizabeth

Clock Alarm Clock 6.00 - 7.00 Clock Breakfast - 8.00 clock departure

The breakfast began with a surprise birthday party for Elfi. A cake with Sprühkerzen and dance performance of "World Vision Tanzcompagny" made Elfi speechless with joy. After the Glückwunschbusserl it was on time at 8.00 clock on the Knysna Hollow Hotel Elephant Park. (The park is a total of 12 elephants)
Small exhibition, a short introductory film and then it went to the elephant. This we have
then fed through Their rough skin caressed and made many photos of and with the elephant.

We went to the National Park Tsitsihammer there to the 77 m long suspension bridge to go.

On the way back, we have again, as is already on the journey of wild baboons. An experience to be away from them, only 1-2 meters.
restless sea, beautiful mountains and scenery all around.

After a swift lunch (we were again a bit late) was our trip to South Africa's largest yellow wood tree (3m diameter). The wood of this tree is used for antique furniture.
After we have touched the tree twice - for good luck - we drove to Port Elizabeth.

clock at 17.00 we picked up our local guide from the hotel to drive with him in the oldest township in Port Elizabeth.

Port Elizabeth was established 1 ^ 820, here are home to 70% blacks, 20% white, 9% and 1% Asian races. The largest car company Ford, VW and General Motors auto plants here.

the Township we have in the district of New Brighton to get an idea of living under what conditions, many people have. When Nelson Mandela President
was from South Africa, he has promised for 1 million poor people build houses to let. In this quarter we have seen some of them. Families who earn less than 1,500 rand (about 150 €) per month are entitled to a state-built cottages (2 rooms, kitchen, running water). Unfortunately, despite all this too many people living in tin shacks.
it went further to Red Location Museum (Apartheid Museum), which was opened in 2004.
In this museum you can learn a lot about the issue of apartheid on the people who have died (Biko), but also how it looks in the present.

The dinner was for us in a shebeen (bar without Alkoholausschenklizenz) reserved. In Jeya's Jazz Corner received us a traditional dance group and the buffet was covered with typical African food (bread, porridge, beans, vegetables, lamb ....)
What a fun evening with the locals with common music and dancing end . Simply wonderful
again a great day with a qualification.
